Bangalore has played its home matches at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium since the beginning of the 2014–15 season. Bannerghatta Biological Park, also known as the Bannerghatta Zoo, is a zoological garden located in the city of Bengaluru. It was initially a small zoo and picnic corner within Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) which was started in 1974. The bifurcation of the Biological Park and the National Park took place in 2002. The Bannerghatta Biological Park covers a total area of 731.88 hectares and includes a zoo, safari park, butterfly park and rescue centre. The Zoo Authority of Karnataka, the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, and the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment (ATREE), Bangalore, are collaborating agencies. For the convenience of the general public, the Governing Council of Zoo Authority of Karnataka had decided to rename Bannerghatta Biological Park as 'Bengaluru Bannerghatta Biological Park' (BBBP). Fraser Town, Bengaluru or Mootocherry, is a locality of Bangalore Cantonment, located in the central part of the city spread over 4 km2. It was established in 1906 and is named after Stuart Mitford Fraser (1864–1963), who was the tutor and guardian of Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, Maharaja of Mysore. Fraser Town was established to de-congest the growing Bangalore Civil and Military Station (otherwise known as the Bangalore Cantonment). The foundation of Fraser Town was laid in August 1910 by Mrs. F J Richards, with a commemorative plaque on the corner of Coles Road and Mosque Road.
Fraser Town is a residential and commercial neighborhood, the prominent roads being Coles Road,Promenade Road, Netaji Road, Madhavraya Mudaliar Road (M M Road), Haines Road, Spencer Road, Wheeler Road, Mosque Road, etc. The neighborhood is known for its communal harmony with Hindus, Muslims and Christians living side by side in peace. Before being known as Fraser Town, the neighborhood was called Mootocherry by the locals. In 1988, the BBMP renamed Fraser Town as Pulakeshi Nagara, after Pulakeshin II who ruled the Deccan in the 7th century. (Full article...)
Padukone, the daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and raised in Bangalore. As a teenager, she played badminton in national level championships but left her career in the sport to become a fashion model. She soon received offers for film roles and made her acting debut in 2006 as the title character of the Kannada filmAishwarya. Padukone then played a dual role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in her first Bollywood release, the romance Om Shanti Om (2007), which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Suresh Kumar (born 11 November 1955) is an Indian Bharatiya Janata Party politician who was the Minister of state for Primary & Secondary Education and Sakala of Karnataka from 20 August 2019 to 26 July 2021. He was the Minister of state for Law & Parliamentary Affairs of Karnataka from 7 June 2008 to 13 May 2013.
Born in Bengaluru, he was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from a very young age. He finished his graduation in Science from Bangalore University. Due to his active opposition to the Emergency, he was imprisoned in the Bangalore Central jail, where many national and state level leaders were also being detained. After being released from jail, he did his graduation in law from Bangalore University during 1977–1980. He started his career as an advocate during 1981. Kempe Gowda I (17 June 1510 — 1569) locally venerated as Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda, or commonly known as Kempe Gowda, was a governor under the Vijayanagara Empire in early-modern India. He is famous for the development of Bangalore Town in the 16th century. Kempegowda erected many Kannada inscriptions across the region. He also authored Ganga-gauri-vilasa (transl. The play of Ganga and Gauri), a yakshagana (verse-play) in Telugu. He is commemorated with various statues and memorials and many places are named after him in Bangalore. (Full article...)
