Born and raised in Casa Grande, Arizona, Robbins played scholastically at Casa Grande Union High School.[1] He played collegiately for the Arizona Wildcats,[2] and, as a senior, was honored by Gannett News Service (GNS) as a second-team All-American.[3]

A fourth round selection (89th overall pick) in the 1984 NFL Draft,[4] Robbins played for the Denver Broncos for eight seasons (1984–1991).
