Delete Samoan American Drummer?

File:Samoan American drummer.jpg

is currently listed for deletion at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Images_and_media_for_deletion/2008_April_15#Image:Samoan_American_drummer.jpg

If you have an opinion on this, please visit the above listing. I find it a striking and apropos photograph -- but I'm the guy who posted it. Thanks, Pete Tillman (talk) 00:17, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

This article's content about Samoans is highly speculative - And not very scholarly... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.114.58.46 (talk) 21:56, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Polynesian Americans?

I have to question how much sense this categorization makes, since parts of Polynesia ARE parts of America. Hawaii and American Samoa, as examples. "Mexican Americans", for example, makes sense because Mexico is entirely outside of America. Gringo300 (talk) 19:59, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Outside the United States, anyway. It makes obvious sense to use the term 'Polynesian Americans' to refer to Americans from those parts of Polynesia that haven't been taken over by the States. Given that, it's reasonable to use the term of Hawai'ians and American Samoans, as these peoples are culturally and ancestrally closely akin to other Polynesian peoples – the American Samoans to Western Samoans, the Hawai'ians to Marquesans, Tahitians and Māori. Indigenous Australians

What I find bizarre is the grouping of indigenous Australians with Pacific Islanders. They are hardly any closer to the Polynesian, Micronesian and Melanesian peoples than Europeans are. I don't know about their links with Papuans. Koro Neil (talk) 13:04, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Neutrality in Infobox

Presently all the pictured politicians are Democrats, this maybe a violation of WP:NEU and/or WP:WEIGHT due to there being notable Republican Pacific Islander Americans. --RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 01:53, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

There are only two politicians listed. I don't think there are Republican Pacific Islanders that are better known. Naipia (talk) 06:44, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
How about Vicente T. Blaz, or Pedro Agulto Tenorio, or Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole? There are others, and more can be found on Wikipedia.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 19:53, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

U.S. Virgin Islands

I was unable to find any information about the number of Pacific Islanders in the U.S. Virgin Islands. On the U.S. Census Bureau website's "U.S. Virgin Islands Demographic Profile", they list Pacific Islanders within the group "other" — this group "other" contains other ethnic groups, so its data can't be used. LumaP15 (talk) 07:05, 10 October 2018 (UTC)

Disregard this section; I found that the U.S. Virgin Islands has 16 Pacific Islanders, the fewest of any region in the U.S. LumaP15 (talk) 04:01, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
